In the case of the People vs. Stebbins, which grew out
of the riot of the Midland Railroad and Cuyler some time ago, in which it
was claimed that Mr. Stebbins assaulted Collector Petrie with intent to kill,
and for which an indictment was found before a Cortland County Grand Jury
against Mr. Stebbins, in the trial of the same which came off this week at
Cortland, the jury returned a verdict of "Not Guilty". L. B. Kern, Esq.
of this place, was the principal attorney on the defense.
