From the Cortland Democrat of Cortland, NY Friday, April 14, 1876
The U.I.&E. R.R. Co. are laying a track from the Midland track to
the Syracuse & Binghamton depot, in this place. The track leaves the Midland on
the east side of Pendleton street, and bending to the left strikes the D.L.&W. R.R.
track, near the shanties south of Port Watson street, and then runs along side the last
mention company's track to their depot.
This will be a great saving to both roads, and to the public in
transferring freight, etc. The track laying is under the supervision of Mr. Patrick
Clancy, who thoroughly understands his business, and who has been in the employ of
the U.I.&E. R.R. Co. for several years past.
