( Excerpt )
A Snow Blockade
The DeRuyter Road was entirely blocked up for nearly the
whole week. The train which left Norwich on Tuesday did not reach DeRuyter
until Thursday - some of the passengers being compelled to take up quarters
at farm houses along the line. It appears that the engine got out of water
and left the train, to procure a supply, but found it impossible to get back
to the train for a day or two. The train which left Norwich on Tuesday did
not return until Saturday.
