From the Chenango Telegraph of Norwich, NY Wednesday, August 17, 1870
DeRuyter - At last we have the pleasure of
announcing the cheering news that the cut on Crumb Hill is through; all
that is now to be done is to slope the banks and even down the grade. Crumb Hill
could not be graded. Only thirteen months of work and the grading is done. The
engineers are now laying out work on the Truxton extension. Sage, Williams &
Jerome are the contractors and of course our people are glad to have them engage
this work, for we know that they are men of untiring energy. - Carl Von Schmidt
