From the Chenango Union of Norwich, NY Wednesday, March 9, 1870
The Branch Railroads - It is said that the
branch of the Midland Railroad from this place to DeRuyter will be completed
by the first of September next. A thousand men are at work upon the route, and
a thousand tons of iron have been purchased for the road.
The track on the New Berlin Branch is laid to a point about
one mile north of the Latham Stand, in Guilford. Track-laying is discontinued
for the present, and the forces are engaged in ballasting the road as far as laid.
